I have some extra cash. I won't buy players as I'm ok (read ok not ecstatic) with my team. Yes it could be improved but that's not the question. I'm sitting on some cash - what's the best use? (No, I will not give it to other players thanks for asking though!) I've no loans as I'm rather against debt financing a club (yeah yeah Liverpool under the prior owners I know)

1) - Deposit for 12.xx % (Which is ridiculous - is there massive inflation in the Striker Manager world??? Here in America I'd almost kill to have a 12.xx% ROI)
2) - Upgrade a school (s)
3) - Upgrade standing to sitting at my stadium.

Thoughts??

1st - without a doubt in my opinion stadium upgrades - try and get to Pro and VIP asap.
2nd - Buy and sell players for profit
3rd - Upgrade stadium accessories that are still required for your division
4th - Upgrade school
5th - Deposit

Thanks for the response. I'm in Div 6 so no upgrades. I've been offered to move up, but don't want to fund stadium upgrades and get beat. I'd hate to miss my sponsor bonus & my assumption is Sponsor Bonus > potential ticket sales increase for moving up a divison. Would you upgrade from Standing to sitting or from sitting to pro?

If I can ask, why is deposit 5th? I've not had a player produced from a school yet so I'm not sure what their selling or play value would be. Obviously it's based on the stats & progression et al. But a constant 12.xx% over y weeks seems like a pretty ridiculous ROI. Maybe I'm thinking too conservatively though.

because odds are you aren't gonna keep that money in the bank for a whole week for the interest to take affect. you should lay some of it aside though. and sitting to pro i'd say cuz pro tickets cost more than sitting. 29/06/2011 01:29

Interesting. I actually do keep the money deposited for a week. Thanks for the sitting to pro advice, I think I'll upgrade that. 29/06/2011 03:11

Hi, I agree with Gunnernic on priorities. Improving your stadium will permanently and irrevocably increase your income from home games. I try to balance quantity and quality when improving my stadium- perhaps there are managers who would disagree with that. For example, some teams have stadiums that "seat" over 100.000 fans, but 90% of those are standing sections. They never fill all 90.000 standing spots, so I really don't see the point. Perhaps there is prestige in being the first manager to finish the 3rd tier of seating, and so they are in a race.

If you join a higher division you will still have a sponsor and thus you will be able to get a bonus at the end of the year. And getting beaten is much more fun than playing a team that has all 0% energy, in my opinion.

@ ABC DEFG - said: why is depositing 5th?

Interest might be up at the moment (I suspect a lot of users have borrowed money to buy players etc) and if it keeps going to say 25%+ I might prioritise depositing more.

But lets look at the figures in more depth:

Depositing 8 mill now yields roughly 75K interest per week. lets take it over 4 weeks, thats 300K.

If you upgrade 6000 seats from standing to general (seating) and at the SAME time upgrade 6000 seats from general to Pro it will take 2 weeks and cost you 8 mill, your outcome is 6000 less standing and the same general and 6000 more pro. Chances are your 6000 standing were not full anyway, so your ROI is now 6000 pro seats @ $75 / seat = $450 000 / game at a worst case scenario of only 2 home games a week (with private league) = $900 000 / week
So lets go back to our 4 weeks, 2 of them were construction time and the last 2 we made minimum 1.8 mill extra.

Buying & selling players: this is obviously variable and has a lot to do with how much time you spend looking for bargains, not a small amount of luck, and how smart you are in using your 2 search options and how you transact with other managers.
Buying low or for free, fixing a player or training him up, and selling on can be very lucrative - 5 mill + profit per week is not unheard of, but be pretty proud of yourself if you are making your Monday morning costs just from player sales profit.

Schools: hmmm, this brings in various opinions - I have seen a manager thats built virtually every school out there, probably on "Low" or "Regular" and has juniors available every day which he either fires or sells or keeps to train. Some managers are frustrated with schools as they have 1 school and the players graduating are not good enough and take too long to come. I myself have a Uruguay school at "Excellent" level and have had 5 players so far all minimum 60% progression which is fine by me. My costs are 59K for weekly maintenance and I get a junior once every 2 weeks which I sell for minimum 300k which easily covers the cost. Obviously a big school at a high level will possibly bring in that great CF or GK that everyone wants but maintenance is very high so its quite subjective.

Hope thats of help and/or some interest
Nic

How would you know this, you only joined the game today? (Or are you one of the Spanish league players - if so, can you give us more detail on your statement about schools)
