The younger player still has two yrs of activ training...he will improve but i dont think he'l make the 40 mark...n ur 40 yr old!!playin at 40!!...older than my coach!!..well he was losin avg,its good u fired him,but bad u bought a 23yr old with av 25...for that avg a 14yr old GK would be a reasonable gamble for me.

Better to explain with a picture... seriously

ok, so this guy is 36/16. Assuming 4 game years to every 1 year real time you get this.

age 20 - July 2012 = 56 avg, still going up, as steep as ever.
age 24 - July 2013 = 67 avg, getting close to the top of the hill
age 26 - Jan 2014 = 73 avg, he has just about maxxed out.
age 27 - He's done all he can, he's at his absolute physical peak. 75 avg.
age 30 - April 2015 = age catches up, and he is "over the hill"

Now, see that green line at the beginning of the graph? That's me training this a-hole. Notice how it's steeper than the red line? I train this bastard hard. He improves quickly. But he's only got so much talent (the top of that arc) So I can train him up quickly, and then he will level out just as fast.

So through hard training, this guy will hit 75 in March 2012, a full year ahead of schedule. He will the flatline until his body gives out.

Once you start on the downside of this curve (old age) the same rule about training applies ===>>>> IN REVERSE.

The harder you train a guy, the steeper the fall will be at the end. So say I train this guy in 2015 as hard as I train him now. He will be finished by September 2015....One hard season to destroy years of work...

If I don't train him after he's over the hill, his descent is much much slower, and I can extended the curve out, and along with it, his career.

So all players, sometime between 23-27 flatline.
all players, sometimes between 24-29 go over the hill

train hard on the uphill side and you win. Train hard over the hill and you lose, big time.

The steepness of that red line depends on a few things. 1 - how well you've trained them up to this point. 2. - How good is the training coach? 3. What's the progression of the player (his futbol IQ let's call it) ...I don't think motivation is considered in forecast.

OK, since your coach % is constant, and so are the training values assumed by the forecasting model, it becomes pretty easy to eyeball progression.

take a look at this guy:
http://uk.strikermanager.com/inicio.php?accion=/jugador_entrenamiento.php%3Fid_jugador%3D3540629

See, his arc isn't much of an arch.... it's almost a line... that means lower progression, and as a result , potential.

So the harder you train, the steeper the line, to a point....and it can be steeper going up, or steeper coming back down. More training = steepness of hill.

Make sense?

you have to train the whole team on one thing.

Thats where decision making comes into play.... what to train without wreckign half your team.

Guy has a red arrow? training him makes him worse.

You got an old RIM + a young RIM then you wreck the old while training the new...

So you are screwed ... clear out all of the old farts in one position (inside midfield, inside defense, whatever)

Then train ONLY that position until you get other areas fixed.
