Has anybody in the top tiers of this game had any success without CFs? I'm thinking about moving to formations with a RF and LF. I guess the lower finishing in general for the RFs and LFs make it harder to score goals? Can they be trained to have finishing abilities just as high as a top CF or are they limited in their growth? | 28/11/2011 07:10 |

Never tried it. but I'm not a top tier team (I will say to my grave). I am certain you can probably win div 6 and div 5, probably div 4, and maybe div 3 with RF/LF combination. Which makes it a very coherent strategy starting out. Use cheap RF/LF until you get to div 4 or 3, and either accumulate cash, young studs, or train a young CF to be your div 3 go to guy. |

With RF/LF being stronger in speed and strength and slightly less high in finishing (as a rule at least), this would be an extremely interesting strategy. | 28/11/2011 08:45 |

been using LF/RF combo for a long time now. with a rather "weak" team, i've managed to secure top 5 spot (more or less) in group of death in div. 3 against teams that have a lot stronger squads. | 28/11/2011 11:21 |

I'll be dumping my CF at the end of the season and using only wingers up front, I now have junior wingers maturing in my youth team who's finishing is better than their speed. I'll let you know how that goes. |

Sounds like a experiment worth pursuing. I have a LONG way to go before worrying about div 3 and 4 so I will spend a few seasons trying to develope some ideal RF and LF that will fit my system. | 29/11/2011 03:18 |

Despite lacking certain attributes, the real strength in a CF comes from being able to train their Finishing Attribute. No other position on the field grows that attribute faster with training. | 29/11/2011 03:44 |

Yea, that is where I'm assuming the downfall will be... I wonder how significant the difference is... Really a RF/LF is no different from a CF... | 29/11/2011 04:22 |

With the trend being to play a high offside line these days, an RF LF or RF LW or LF RW is a dead sure way of breaking that offside trap with their speed. As tactics settle and high offside line becomes too risky, a CF will once again be a dominant force up front. Training the finishing for LF RF or speed for CF will to a large extent neutralise the difference between the 2. I wouldnt advise a purely LW RW attack for a long term solution - I dont see it as potent enough in front of goal but thats just my opinion. |
