What is the best way to get a player into a 50 plus player?
Coach? School? Type of Training? Buying? Luck?
Also does playing matches not improve a player's average?

Your team is winning, so that's good. But your stadium should be pulling in more money per game. I remember at the end of my first season I was in div6 too, but I was pulling in almost a million per game in ticket revenues. Maybe you can upgrade some of your standing seats to general and maybe add a section of Pro if you can afford it. You definitely need 80%+ training coaches to train up your players. Playing in matches doesn't really improve average, coaching does (The only exception is if a player has low motivation after not being played in too many matches, this will cause their training to decrease). After you get money saved up then you can use coaching secretary to find decent value in the market. 50+ players can go for under 10M, or the revenue of about 3 or 4 matches once you hit division 5 and have a decent stadium. You can also train up a player from 45 to around 50 within one season if you have decent coaching. Try not to buy players that are age 26+ if you can, as they will not really improve with training due to age. I am still learning about this game, but I'm sure other people can fill you in with their tips as well.

So my advice is upgrade stadium a little bit and find some value players. Most of my players are only 45-50 but I am still in 1st for my div5 league. If you find 40-45 players you can train them up to around 50 by the end of next season.

Thanks Mr Kush quite a bit of info. I have upgraded some of my stadium in my learning process so reckon I won't have to upgrade anything else in the next div. I am trying to save up to upgrade the stadiums. I did an upgrade already after reading the forums. If I were to start over I'd use all my money and just put it into a stadium although the players I bought did make a difference. I bought the player even though they were old because I knew I could get them on the cheep and they could still make some difference. Better than a 24 avg 38 year old. I am wondering about my youngsters though. Does that mean I should have the best coach in the younger team coach? How will the youth players come through. I have three schools so how would I get those players in the main squad as quickly as possible. From what I understand it will take at least a full season to get my youngsters into the squad? If they only progress 5point a season some of my youngsters will not even make it in the next div!!! 15/12/2011 18:00

Don't rush youth promotion, leave them there as long as possible. Means you can just resign them to keep them safe rather than paying them exhorbitant amounts of money.

Get the best youth coach and senior coach you can, it's the only two members of staff you really need to be high, however to support them you need pro/vip seats.

All good questions. Stadium Pro seats are pretty key. If you can save up for a set, your income will go up around 4-500k per game (at least that seems to be the general consensus).

Youth players - like grantis45 said, there usually isn't a need to rush to promote them. I have two that are eligible for promotion, but haven't promoted them yet. I like to temp promote Tuesday after my gametime, so that they have three full trainings at 150% (or whatever the % is nowadays). Those six trainings per season are great. However, if you've holes to plug in the sr team, jrs can help. I'd advise against promoting them early - they take a huge moral shock, which can be rectified via the Psychologist. They also take a forecast hit, which can't be changed.

Also like grantis45 said, the Coach & Youth Coach are the two key staff members. If you've good progression youths + a good youth coach, your juniors should increase much more than 5 pts/season.

So we are talking about a season or two before being able to promote a youth? Just want to get my piggy's in a row because that would take some long term planning. If that is the case what is the best way to protect a player from a hostile. I've been reading a bit and it seems the best way is to simply resign with a higher salary? does it work the same for the youth or do they work differently? 16/12/2011 05:22

With youth you need only resign them once. Once they have an (R) symbol next to their release clause they cannot be hostiled until the next season. As for Seniors, yeah you will need to set a high salary if you don't want your high progression/high average players to get hostiled.

You can promote a youth properly as soon as they turn 19.
You can do so before they turn 19 if you want but if their average is too low you'll ruin their forecast.

Here is a list of the averages/ages a youth player must be to be properly promoted

Ave/Age
40+/18
50+/17
60+/16
70+/15

and so on.

The length of time it will take you to grow a junior player from say 30 to 40 average will depend on the strength of your junior coach, the progression of your player, the type of training you use and the average motivation the player has for a season. If all of those contributors are solid, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a juniors average to go up 16+ points in a season.

Also remember if you temp. promote a junior and play him in your first team, they will receive a boost to motivation and when they return to juniors that boost will remain there until the next day's training. This is a good way to improve a player quickly. You can only temp promote twice per player per season, and you can only temp promote 2 juniors at any given time.

Hope that helps

Practicesquad has it all correct. One thing that you mentioned where you hit the nail on the head is about long term planning. I have four high progression juniors who will hit 19 years old at the start of next season and will have to be promoted. I'm already trying to line up 14/15 year olds to take their places. End of next season I'll have 7 more players who I'll have to promote, so around the middle of next season, I'll be looking for young replacements for them.
