 if you slow down the sim using the button with the "full screen" and the "play" ( ) button you can see that he was onside when the ball was passed.

this is after the ball left the other guy (you can see in my pic that the ball is already a bit far away from the guy who passed it). We know that as soon as the ball leaves the player to the other is when we should check. So as soon as the ball left that player, the player you call offside was still well onside, it's just that It's a bit hard to take screenshot at that moment even when the game is slowed down

EDIT: Anyway this is how i close I could get (just as the ball is leaving him)
