(numbers are not precise, but the idea is real).. AVG means in this sim. transfer, there were some for 25M or even less.. so when I saw that I got a little affraid of being fined for any good deal.. ..I m not complaining at all, but maybe a little more transparency would be welcome.. link please. This is not helpful because you're saying "I heard they fined someone and it was unfair" but with no evidence. Imagine if any fiscal were to use this rationale to fine someone! Any message publicly posted in the forums will be read by users. If there are lots of threads about "this person was punished for X" and so on, what kind of message will that send about the game? The vast majority of users are here to play the game, and do so within the rules. Striker Manager is unusual among online games because it gives users the freedom to cheat! This is a laissez-faire approach to economics that allows market prices to naturally fluctuate in response to changes in the sim, training, and other things in the game such as watching a particular strategy succeed against others. When we fine a user or remove a user, there is a strong reason. Most cases are cut and dry, obvious problem of a single user creating several accounts, or a user buying/selling a player for WAY above or below market price. In other cases, there appears to be a friend helping out another friend, and this is much more difficult to adjudicate, because in that situation, transactions that would be legal in another context can become part of a larger pattern of collusion. If we didn't act upon these cases, friends could band together and acquire all the best players and sell them to and from each other at the absolute low end of the market price range, or simply hostile clause players to help give friends the money they need to buy other players, and within a few seasons, division 1 would be populated entirely by this kind of cheater. Whenever a case is difficult, we discuss it extensively on the mod forum, sometimes stretching to 10 pages of comments and sharing of evidence to consider. Fiscals are not omniscient, and we are trying to interpret transactions as they relate to the most common patterns of innocent users. Aberrations are common, but not always illegal, and sometimes we make mistakes. However, I have personally "made a mistake" 3 times that later turned out to be a clever user gaming the system and getting away with it. These users were caught blatantly cheating later and were removed or fined, so these gray areas are very important for catching real cheaters. There are only 2 punishments that are irreversible: remove team, and reset team. Everything else (financial fine, retainment, league point fine) is 100% reversible. If you see that a user has been retained, this simply means that they are under investigation, and like in most cases of real-life law enforcement, are innocent until proven guilty, upon which some kind of punishment is applied. For tough cases, we also take a straw poll regarding a fair punishment. NOTHING is arbitrary about what we do, and if we do make a mistake, we are eager to correct it. If you are worried about being retained for a transaction, the best thing you can do is to message a couple of fiscals to ask what a fair price would be. There are a few cases where you need to be more careful: 1) if you find an amazing deal on auction with direct buy 2) you are doing a transaction with a friend 3) you are doing a transaction with a user who is leaving the game that is NOT an auction In the first case, always check with a fiscal, it may be a user trying to scam the system and you will either have to re-sell the player or get fined the difference in market price. In the 2nd case, just check with 3 fiscals and get a price quote, then you are guaranteed not to be fined In the 3rd case, DON'T DO IT, you will probably be fined. Even I fell victim to this trap before I became a fiscal. I hope this helps to clarify what we are doing. We do not retain without evidence, and we never fine without incontrovertible evidence. It may later turn out that this evidence is countermanded by other evidence that was not considered, and then the fine is reversed. It's a hard process, but nobody takes any delight in fining, we often receive private messages that would burn your eyes out or see public campaigns questioning our fairness. It can be very tiring when what you really want to do is just manage your team and talk about fun things. If you've read this far, congratulations, you reached the end of my reply, and thank you |

n8mare said: ..and, have fiscals designed what is minimum/maximum prices for a player or do they judge about it for each case? (meaning some fiscals could allow a particular price, when some others could find it not acceptable. is that possible?) Edited by n8mare 24-05-2012 03:44 There is some judgment involved, but recent auctions hold the most weight. The reason judgment is involved is the proliferation of very high value players, you also have to discount players that are overbought at auction. We discuss all borderline cases in mod forum, and several appeals have resulted in reduced or negated fines... We have to exercise rapid judgment, but sometimes overlook things that are revealed after the fact. But the words "your fine is unfair!" is not an appeal. Neither is name calling or flattery. In fact, it's irritating. We listen to appeals based on facts or casting things into a new light. So there you go |
