I understand where you are coming from; we want teams to win games with their players and tactics and not through "external" means. Unfortunately, though it might be against the spirit of the game, it is the responsibility of managers to pay their players appropriately and protect themselves from such a situation. With out the ability to hostile players the economics of this game would greatly suffer; you would be able to pay players peanuts and struggle to create market values. In my eyes, this relatively rare occurrence is a minor, necessary evil. Perhaps there could be a 48 ban on hostiling an opposition to protect from this, but I see it way down the list of things to do. Looking more specifically at this case, the manager had his worst players hostiled and still has many players left to field a full team. Non-factor. |
