Would anyone be kind enough to explain to me why is leadership important for forward players? Thx. 29/06/2013 13:32

They earn experience faster with higher leadership, so they get skill points faster. Skill points make a big difference on the pitch.

Leadership is important to a well rounded training. You need to focus heavily on the other stats as well, but can't totally ignore leadership.

OK, so exp. points is the main thing?

But, how much do skills improve things? Do you know that? I mean net breaker - how much does it improve players shooting and so on?

Thx.

Im not sure there is an exact percentage that they increase performance.

The key in my post was "well rounded." The problem with leadership training for forwards is that it increases average by A LOT so people train it over and over at the expense of the other important attributes. You'll see poorly trained forward with a decent average with 90 leadership and shots, but 45 speed, strength and technique. Those players are worthless on the pitch.

I'd be interested to hear what others have to add. I know there are some others with opinions on leadership. 29/06/2013 15:47

the match engine is a fairly complicated random number generator ie to determine if a player wins a tackle or not it rolls say a small dice for your crummy defender and then say a much larger dice for your opponant who has a beast of a winger abracadabra and it determins what happens

my point is leadership is just another number which can help u to a bigger dice

as @ sab says though - on leadership exp points is main benifit imo

Like @sabre said, I'm a proponent of leadership - in smaller doses though. There are a ton of really crappy high-ish avg (lets say 80 avg) LF/RFs with 90+ leadership and crap stats. They are useless. Or near useless.

However, if part of a balanced training, leadership helps raise the average quickly, which in turn helps in-game performance. And it leads to faster skill acquisition, which is pretty key also.

Again, I'd rather focus on say training Attacking Headers, Beating Markers, and Crossing the Ball for forwards - makes them play in-game better. Throwing in an occasional Penalty Shots is good too, but as long as it's only here and there.

I can't speak much about RB/LB or RW/LW though - I don't train those. But I suppose the same principles apply.

Fairly decent lb/rb and lw/rw will gain about 2 points of leadership for each training session of corner kicks, i tend to wait until they hit seniors before training up their leadership

Doesn't this leadership rules apply to midfielders?! From what I have seen, midfielders have low leadership compare to other positions but gain experience faster than other positions. Lack of leadership seems to have no effect on them.
