Is re-signing players with low salaries, just to keep them from being hostile claused an exploit?

Bottom line is this... we can all argue as much as we want, but this is how it is in this game, it works... it will not change. Some agree, some disagree...if someone feels that juniors are not getting paid enough... well then pay them more. As for my opinion, don't worry about how much I pay for my players and take care of your team first. 16 year old kid getting $1000 a week I think is enough. Again, everywhere in the world you will not get a pro contract until you are at least 18. 05/08/2011 00:33

here's a thing though... Mozleron started this thread complaining that some people don't pay enough to youth players, but he has most of his squad at $1000 or less with two exceptions... Moz, are you saying that $1000 is enough and fair, but $750 is not? Really? Are we talking about $250 that you're upset about? 05/08/2011 00:38

It's not the low pay rate that bothers me. It's the (R) designation that prevents another manager from buying out low paid players. 05/08/2011 04:46

then add it to the round file called "Suggestions" and be done with it. 05/08/2011 06:27

What difference does it make if I pay my youths a low salary and resign them, or a high salary and resign them? Either way nobody can buy them from me so it would be a bad management of finances to pay them a high salary. Its not an exploit because just like senior players, if they wanted a higher salary they would say so when you resign them.

Again, the issue is that the (R) designation prevents anyone else from buying out the player, and it seems like this mechanism is being used to artificially maintain low wages. Why should good players, regardless of age, be locked into low contracts when there are teams with more money wiling to pay them better?

I don't know where the whole "youth vs senior" part got into this discussion, but that is irrelevant. It is used for both senior and junior players.

(R) isn't available as senior. the discussion is not irrelevant, it's completely on point.

You're asking for juniors to be treated same way as seniors (as completely free agents and unregulated salaries)...and they're not, anywhere.

You're also talking about juniors wages being kept artificially low...they are like that worldwide in all leagues...(see free agent discussion.)

Youth do not get paid the same as seniors anywhere...*because* all, or almost all, leagues have some regulations in place to prevent it from happening.

So (R) designation is a simple way of doing that.

Youth players in real life get treated WAYY different than senior players. Youth players get locked up by a squad basically until they start playin real pro ball. So in effect, the game does it right. 05/08/2011 19:09

You're not listening... Young players (high school age, 14-18 y.o.) do not get big money no matter how good they are. The reason why is that they are not playing in pro teams and that's where the big income comes from. In real life it's a business, you have to make profit. So, regardless if a young player has a good potential, nobody knows him, thus he will not bring revenue from jersey sales, tickets... etc. That is why young players don't get paid pro salaries.

And another thing I said earlier, most of the teams in 6th and 7th div can barely afford to pay senior squad salaries, and now you are suggesting to make everyone pay higher salaries to youth players so they don't get hostile claused... This will only benefit strong teams, because for somebody $2.5 mil may seem like a nice chunk of money, for me it's less than an income from one home game. There are teams with much higher incomes than me. This is the only way to keep your youth players in your team is by re-signing them. 06/08/2011 01:17
