Substitute
Is it possible to make a substitution without changing the formation? Say for whatever conditions I'm no longer in my starting (active) formation, and later in the game I want to make a substitution NO MATTER WHAT at 60". Currently (unless I'm doing something wrong or missing something) you HAVE to set a formation when you create an Advance tactic for a substitution. But I can't know if any previous conditions have flipped my formation, and I wouldn't want to change it back to the starting formation in that case. Nor can I assume that one of conditions flipped for my formation to another one.

If this is the case, and I'm not missing something or doing something wrong ... can I make a suggestion to add a "No Change" value to the formation drop down in Advanced Tactics screen? If not, can we have a separate way of making just substitutions?

if you're gonna do complex advanced tactics then its easiest to make an algorithm for different possibilities. In your case, you can set it this way:

at min 60: if below by more than1 goal then.....
at min 60: if below by 1 goal then...
at min 60: if draw then...
at min 60: if winning by 1 goal then...
etc...

that way, you choose what you want from all the possible situations and everything will be counted for. No need for assumptions, but it will take time to set up.

Just keep the situation at "any"
And make sure the formation is the same as the formation you started the game with.
Careful with the tactics too.

You can even do it multiple times too (i.e @ start of 2nd half and 60 mins).

I wonder if it works though, my team just got powned 5-1 by a team that was about 5 less in average (comparable, but 5-1 with the one goal an own goal by his GK??) I'm wondering if the subs just got subbed off and no one came on... lol.

The point is not to change the formation to the starting one though!

the question is how? the previous formation is unknown because it could have changed depending on other advanced tactics that change formation according to score. So if you're winning you would have a formation, if you're losing you would have another. As far as I know, if you wanna make a sub regardless of score...the only way its doable is the way i mentioned above.

Sorry, I just like to try to keep things simple...

The options for advanced formations could use a bit of simplifying, or maybe even customizable (so people who have ALOT of time can write customized algorithms and such), right now there seem to be a few blind spots.

I've lost a game 2-6, and I think I put too many advance tactics which made things worse. My advice is to keep it simple. 19/09/2011 19:27

Yes I could do that but ...

I'm trying to keep it simple. Also, it's impossible to make an algorithm for all the different possibilities since games could go back an forth quite a lot.

For instance, how would you cope with a game where the scoring went as follows: 2-0 > 2-3 > 5-3 > 5-6

You apparently can't, from what you guys are saying. I was just checking before I made a suggestion post.

I'll add a post to the Suggestions forum with the following:

Create a simple substitution interface (essentially the same as the old system)
And/Or
Create a Advanced Tactic\Formation drop down item called "No Change" or something to that effect which leaves the formation as is.

Yup, I ran into a similar problem yesterday, but I just decided to not change my formations at all throughout the game.

The first 2 games I messed around with things too much and got my rear handed to me by slightly lower avg teams.

There are definitely "blind spots" in the advanced tactics, but I'm wondering (after watching my sim) how much it actually matters.

It's nice to have fresh rested players though (from subbing).
