Stonepost United's pre-season continued in relatively positive fashion as they defeated Gargoyles 3-1 in a friedly at the Blandings Stadium in India. Talismanic forward Chris Earl got the first two goals for United whilst Gargoyles' defender Rajesh Ashwin could do nothing about the third but put the ball in his own net after it was inches from the goal-line. The only slight for United came after Ryan Wright was shown a straight red for a tackle from behind on Marc Valls. The resulting free-kick was smoothly worked and finished with a spectactular goal from Valls.

Stonepost next meet Inter Milan in two days' time prior to opening the league season proper against MU Indonesia on Friday.

I just wanted to record my experiences as manager in a newspaper-style report, similar to the reports I read from the BBC. I figured it'd make me watch more games and learn about my players a little more, as well as learning about my opposition.

Speaking of which - I look forward to Thursday.

Sincerely,

Stundek

Manager, Stonepost United.

by Stundek in Krakow, Poland.

A red card to Wisla Krakow's Chinese defender Tang Yanping didn't dampen Stonepost United's pre-season progress as they defeated the Polish team 5-2 at the Stadion i.m Henryka Reymana in Krakow this afternoon. Manager Stundek was pleased with the defensive improvement his side exhibited although he stated there will be some tactical defensive changes for subsequent matches. Of more serious concern is midfielder Bryan Wilding's injury, although his replacement Jakim Pierce more than made-up for the absence.

Stonepost are away to Inter Milan on Thursday.

Stonepost United's doctor Carmelo Davis reports that right midfielder Bryan Wilding should be back within a week after hobbling off against Wisla Krakow in their recent friendly match. "Just a bout of gastroenteritis, nothing life-threatening. No arterial bleeding. He's a tough camper, and I'm sure he'll be back to breaking legs....err...I mean playing professional football in about a weeks' time".

In other team news, Stonepost United are facing a busy couple of days, firstly with Thursday's visit to Inter Milan, then the start of the Div. 6/Group 309 league season at home to MU Indonesia on Friday. The month of October promises no let-up in fixtures with a very busy schedule of Div.6 league and Blue Square Premier Private League fixtures all lined up. And in case playing a Friday friendly wasn't enough, then the visit of Div.3/Grp.8 Nitrok F.C. from Spain in the Striker Cup should make for grateful sleep of the United squad.

The first team has been boosted at left-back with the arrival of Jonathon Hughes from the youth squad. "He had been chomping at the bit" was manager Stundek's assessment, "and had I not played him, it would have been a bit of a waste, given there's so much there to work with". There had been recent talk of a defensive strengthening, and it is believed that Hughes will be the man to provide it.

Later today Stonepost United face a strong Inter Milan side, but manager Stundek is in defiant mood ahead of the match. "We'll give them a right go. With only a day prior to kick-off (of the new league season proper), we need to have a battle-ready side, and I'm glad Milan agreed to this fixture. Yes, they're stronger than us, but I'm going to treat this one as a cup tie - you'll never know who will come out on top. Every team we face will be assessed and treated with the same high level of respect - but I have faith in my side, and well, we just work too bloody hard to simply roll over and die."

Stonepost United meet Inter Milan later today.

A Sabre Harum hat-trick condemned Stonepost United to defeat at the hands of Inter Milan this morning at the Giuseppe Meazza, but manager Stundek refused to be disconsolate after the result: "Fair credit to Milan, they were stronger than us and deserved their win. My boys, for their part, played to the game plan, and I'm glad we were able to fashion a goal out of it. We're injury-free apart from a few tired legs, and we kept our discipline. This is the sort of run we need ahead of the Striker Cup."

Speaking of the Striker Cup, Stonepost will have to turn their team around quickly in order to face Nitrok F.C.; a team totally capable of knocking them out. "We'll try to get 'em on the counter-attack - maybe we'll forge the right result and progress."

Stonepost United: 1 (Chris Earl 42')
Inter Milan: 3 (Sabre Harum 10', 17, 59)

Nitrok F.C. handed Stonepost United a footballing lesson this afternoon in Round 14 of the Sriker Cup. In front of almost 30,000 fans at the Stonepost Stadium, Marco Kunish demonstrated why he is the in-form striker of this tournament with a well-deserved hat-trick, tormenting the Stonepost defence almost at will. Stonepost were lucky to hold Nitrok to just the four goals, as their defence again demonstrated a serious need to improve.

Stonepost United Manager Stundek: "We gave a good account of ourselves. Our goals were somewhat lucky and theirs were clinical and well-taken. Let's not forget: they're playing three divisions above us, and it showed on the pitch. Good luck to them."

Stonepost United finally get their league campagin off the ground tomorrow against MU Indonesia at home where three points will be closely on their minds.

Stonepost United: 2 (Peter Bonner 75', Peter Rojewski 90' OG).
Nitrok F.C. 4 (Marco Kunish 17', 32', 81', Vacha Weekes 66').

"Bring it on" is the cry heard around Stonepost Stadium as fans file in for the first game of the season starting in under an hour's time. The squad are at full strength and raring to take their first three points of the season. "We've been waiting for this for a couple of weeks now" said manager Stundek. "We're certainly not green; we've had a couple of good friendlies and obviously our involvement in the Blue Square Premier League has certainly battle-hardened our troops, but this is what it comes down to, what it's all about".

Stonepost United face MU Indonesia today at 12:16.

Two goals from Chris Earl and one from Danny Jack handed Stonepost United all three points in their opening game of the Div.6/Grp 309 season against MU Indonesia at the Stonepost Stadium this afternoon. Although manager Stundek was thrilled with the goals, he was especially pleased at the clean sheet - all the recent talk about defensive strengthening paid off, with the back four staying resolute throughout the match. "This was a fantastic day all 'round." said Stundek, "we certainly had our moments, and we took them. I'm thrilled with the result for not only the our lads, but all the fans." Again, midfielder Ryan Wright was in the thick of it, bossing traffic and supplying well to both Earl, Jack and Peter Bonner, who also had an outstanding game. Wright has suitably been named in the team of the week and manager Stundek could not be happier. "It's a result of his dedication, commitment and damn hard work on the training ground. I'm very pleased he is being recognised for his efforts."

Stonepost United meet Pie Eaters FC at home in the Blue Square Premier League tomorrow.

Stonepost United: 3 (Chris Earl 17', 71'; Danny Jack 33').
MU Indonesia: 0.
Attendance: 21,839
