The first Pirate vs Ninja friendly stands to serve as a bigger upset. | 04/03/2012 19:53 |

I use the offside trap as my team is rather crap at its best. I have a really shallow team so pack my midfield and keep the backline high. Not sure why this is a bad tactic. How would you recommend playing or what tactic's to use to change things around a bit. | 04/03/2012 20:15 |

billyo11 said: Hey kzr.Im not knocking the tactics you use really and its good to beat a better team then you but in your league games there is not much need to use it all the time as you are probably better then alot of teams you play so its a good opportunity to experiment and try out some other tactics. It might help you to try things now rather then waiting to try things when you start playing better teams. Alright, thank you for saying that. Sorry for that previous reply, I know it was a little harsh... With that said, thanks for the advice. I know that Div. 7 is not difficult by any means. There is a total of 3 users active in my league, me included. My team is the highest rated out of all of them, and there is almost no competition. That proves that it would definitely be a good opprotunity to try out other tactics, but what could I try out against them, when all they do is play basic formations with an average team of around 25-30, lowered further by low morale. Also, what do you suggest learning to do? In your earlier post you lead somewhat to a point of dropping back in cover and actually playing defense, but what else would you suggest other that that point? |

I think you can safely ignore what billyo has suggested (sorry) and instead try to study games of higher-rated teams to see how different positions perform. For instance: 1) How do RM work differently from RIM when average is similar? 2) how does man-marking differ from zone? 3) short passing or counter? 4) LW vs. LF as striker? 5) LB vs. LDF? 6) IM vs. OM? And so on. If you're trying to beat a specific team, look at their last loss or draw and see if you can figure out what their opponent did to hold them back. For teams with long win streaks this can be tough, but is doable. Then, you can test out your theories in your own games and by the time you hit div. 5 you should be quite good and have developed a long-term training/acquisition strategy. |
