My recent league match was an interesting one to watch

My opponent played the most ridiculous offsides trap I have seen to date in this sim.

My team was offsides 19 times, many times on my OWN half. The only attack we could manage was from a corner kick...

I'm not debating whether or not playing an Offsides Trap is a valid tactic or not, nor am I pointing out the difficulty the sim has with acutally calling offsides correctly,

I do want to know how you effectively combat this (very lame) strategy. Not hypothetically, but what works in this sim.

Realistically, playing with one defender who posts at midfield would get you shredded in the real world.

note that my team does not play with the attack overly forward, if anything they hang back a bit towards midfield.

Frustrating since my team outranked the opponent but could not beat this silly tactic

Anyone else deal with this?

This explains the many 1-0 matches I see with 40 offsides calls....

Almost all my matches finish with +15 offsides for me. Sometimes, +20, and last one, 23. I think this issue should have been solved loooong time ago.

I watched your match and it doesn't look like their trap is anything too ridiculous. Some people peg everyone at the half-line no matter what. The dude you played at least dropped back when you approached his half of the field. If anything, you just need to move your forwards back equal to or behind the ball in advanced formations or slide back the red line in tactics. That should do a lot to reduce the number of offsides you generate. 02/04/2013 14:46

Red line is all the way back. The offsides calls on your own half are ridiculous

I think we all agree its the bugs in the sim

It seems that a winning formation means you put everything on midfield: strikers, midfielders and defenders.

10 players on the center mark gets you a win every time.....

Is it really reduced to that?

Check the offsides calls in your end, what usually happens is your guy trails beyond the halfway mark, the other guy passes, and then striker comes back behind the halfway line. So while it may look like an incorrect offsides call, it's actually correct.

I can see that happen some of the time but it does not explain the offsides calls on my own half

By the way, did you see his third goal with his player standing on my goal line??? lol

Please give specific games and times that you've had offsides in your own half. Everytime this had been complained about, the player has crossed the center line to come back into his own half.

Also, you mentioned that you had the red line pulled all the way back. Are you using advanced formations? If not, that's that problem. I get, at most, three offsides per game using advanced formations.
